What your employer must give you
This course teaches hearing conservation awareness — how noise damages hearing, why protectors and testing matter, and the daily decisions that protect you. The noise monitoring, protector selection and program records belong to your employer. Make sure you can get each one:
- Confirmation of whether your role is a covered employee under the hearing conservation action level (an 8-hour TWA of 85 dB).
- Current, site-specific noise monitoring for your work area and tasks.
- Baseline and annual audiometric testing when your exposure requires it, provided at no cost to you.
- Hearing protectors provided at no cost, selected for your actual exposure and work conditions.
- Site-specific fitting, use, care and replacement instructions for your assigned protector.
- A clear procedure for reporting ringing, muffled hearing, discomfort, damaged protectors or communication problems.
- Annual refresher training, and updated training when equipment, protectors, work processes or exposure conditions change.
- Maintained noise exposure and audiometric records as part of the hearing conservation program.
If you cannot get these, stop and ask before you continue working in a posted noise area. This course supports awareness-level training only — it does not replace your employer's site-specific monitoring, testing, protector selection, fit instruction or program records.
Completion documents awareness-level hearing conservation training support only. It is not a substitute for employer-specific noise monitoring, audiometric testing, medical review, individual hearing-protector fit instruction, or site-specific selection of protection for actual exposures.
