What your employer must configure and supply
This course teaches emergency preparedness awareness — recognizing danger, the run-hide-fight decision framework, reporting routes, and the after-action basics. The site-specific plan, contacts, and assembly points belong to your employer. This course package is white-label and employer-configurable; make sure your employer has completed each of these before you rely on it in a real emergency:
- A written, site-specific emergency action plan naming exits, alarms, and assembly/shelter areas.
- The emergency program contact responsible for maintaining and communicating the plan.
- An emergency contact and a security contact for reporting an active threat or credible danger.
- A confirmed assembly area and a separate shelter area reference for your site.
- A trusted reporting channel for concerning behavior, threats, and workplace violence concerns.
- A reunification contact and process for accounting for people after an incident.
- Confirmation of who is trained and assigned for medical, rescue, or coordinator duties — this course does not assign or authorize those roles.
- Acknowledgment of the certificate boundary before assigning this course as satisfying any broader duty.
If you cannot get these from your employer, stop and ask before you rely on this training in an emergency. This course supports awareness-level preparedness only — it does not replace your employer's written emergency action plan, site-specific orientation, assigned emergency roles, or drills.
Completion documents workplace emergency preparedness and active-shooter/workplace-violence awareness only. It does not, by itself, qualify, certify, or authorize a person as law enforcement, armed security, EMS or medical personnel, a tactical responder, or an employer emergency coordinator. The employer must provide site-specific emergency action plan orientation (exits, alarms, assembly and shelter points, and reporting routes), assign and train any medical, rescue, security-coordinator or fire-watch roles, and run its own drills before relying on this completion record for those duties.
