Why This Matters

If you enroll in a delisted school, your training may not count toward your CDL. You could waste thousands of dollars and months of time on invalid certification.

What "Delisted" Means for Your CDL

When a school is removed from the FMCSA Training Provider Registry, new training from that provider cannot be used to take required CDL skills or knowledge tests in most cases.

There are two types of removal:

Involuntary Removal

FMCSA removed the school due to compliance problems, investigations, or failure to meet federal requirements.

Voluntary Removal

The school requested removal, often because the program was paused, merged with another provider, or restructured.

⚠️ Important: Some employers and state DMVs may also distrust past certificates from delisted schools, even if they were issued before removal.

Why FMCSA Removes Schools

The most common reasons schools are removed from the Training Provider Registry:

1

Falsifying training records or reporting "completed" students who never met minimum hours

2

Not delivering required Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory or behind-the-wheel curriculum

3

Using unqualified instructors or unsafe training vehicles

4

Failing audits or ignoring FMCSA requests for documentation

5

Operating as a "CDL mill" focused only on testing, not real-world skills

If your current or future school shows any of these red flags, treat that as a warning sign and verify them immediately.

How to Check Your School

Follow these steps to verify any CDL training provider:

1

Type your school's name in the search box above and filter by state if needed.

2

If your school appears in the list

as Involuntary or Voluntary removal, do not enroll or continue training until you confirm your options with the state and FMCSA.

3

If your school does NOT appear here

still confirm it is currently listed on the official FMCSA Training Provider Registry and matches the exact legal name and location.

4

Use the "Find Safe Alternatives" link near any delisted school to see vetted options in that city or region.

If your school shows as "Involuntary," treat that as a do not enroll warning unless and until they are reinstated.

My School Was Delisted—Now What?

If you discover your school has been removed, take these steps:

Stop before paying more tuition. Ask the school in writing to explain why they were delisted and what remedies they offer.

Contact your state licensing agency or DMV to ask whether your completed hours will still count and whether you need to retrain with an active provider.

Save all contracts, payment receipts, and attendance records in case you pursue a refund or complaint.

Consider transferring to one of the Verified Safe schools in your area. Your existing practice hours may still help you, even if they can't be officially counted.

How We Track Delisted Schools

Our data process ensures accuracy and transparency:

Our database is synced regularly with the FMCSA Training Provider Registry and public enforcement notices.

We compare FMCSA legal names and locations against common brand names to create a match score (e.g., 100%).

Delisted schools are marked as "Involuntary" or "Voluntary" based on FMCSA status codes, and reviewed on a recurring schedule.

Schools can contact us to provide updated documentation if they believe their status has changed, but we only adjust listings after verifying against official sources.

This page is updated regularly, but always cross-check with FMCSA for the latest official status.
