Common mistakes to avoid:
Illinois currently does not offer the CDL test in Spanish. Both written and road tests must be taken in English. We recommend studying with our bilingual practice tests to prepare.
Your Illinois Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) is valid for 180 days (6 months). You must complete your ELDT training and pass the CDL skills test before it expires. If it expires, you'll need to retake the written tests.
If you fail the Illinois CDL test, you can retake it after 7 days. You'll pay a retest fee ($50). There's no limit on attempts, but your CLP must remain valid. Use our practice tests to study the areas where you struggled.
