What certifications does a medical courier actually need?
It depends who you are delivering for, so ask the contract first. In practice three come up repeatedly: HIPAA, because you are handling protected health information; bloodborne pathogens, because you are moving specimens; and hazard communication, because of the labelling and handling rules around what you carry. Some clients also want a background check and their own onboarding, which no training provider can give you.
Is free medical courier training enough to get work?
Free training exists and some of it teaches the material properly. The problem is the record. A client onboarding you wants a certificate they can check, with a name, a date and an ID, and free courses generally either do not issue one or charge for it at the end. If a course is free right up until the certificate, it is not free training, it is paid certification with a long preview.
