CDL School Scam Checker

Verify any CDL training provider against the official FMCSA registry. Don't waste money on unaccredited programs that won't qualify you for your license.

How to Spot a CDL Training Scam

Red Flags to Watch For

  • School is not listed in the FMCSA registry
  • Promises a CDL in just a few days
  • No physical address or classroom location
  • Requires full payment upfront with no refund policy
  • Guarantees job placement at specific pay rates

Signs of a Legitimate School

  • Listed in FMCSA Training Provider Registry
  • Program length of 3-8 weeks minimum
  • Physical training yard with trucks
  • Clear tuition costs and financing options
  • Accepts financial aid (WIOA, VA benefits)

Why FMCSA Registration Matters

Since February 2022, the FMCSA requires all new CDL applicants to complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a registered provider. If your school is not in the registry, you cannot take the state CDL skills test, regardless of how much training you've completed. Always verify before you enroll.
