The North Carolina CDL test is challenging but very passable with proper preparation. You need to score 80% to pass. Most students who practice with our free tests and study the official North Carolina DMV handbook pass on their first attempt.
North Carolina currently does not offer the CDL test in Spanish. Both written and road tests must be taken in English. We recommend studying with our bilingual practice tests to prepare.
Your North Carolina Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) is valid for 180 days (6 months). You must complete your ELDT training and pass the CDL skills test before it expires. If it expires, you'll need to retake the written tests.
If you fail the North Carolina CDL test, you can retake it after 7-14 days (varies by state). You'll pay a retest fee ($50-$100). There's no limit on attempts, but your CLP must remain valid. Use our practice tests to study the areas where you struggled.
