Module 1
Program Purpose, Supervisor Role, and Course Boundaries
Welcome to Drug-Free Workplace Supervisor Training. This two-hour course is designed for supervisors, managers, and program leads who need a practical way to recognize possible workplace impairment, document objective observations, and follow the employer's written drug-free workplace process. You will complete eight fifteen-minute modules. Each module includes engagement checkpoints and a two-question knowledge check. At the end, you will take a ten-question final assessment to show knowledge before completion is recorded. This course is general supervisor training for a drug-free workplace program. It is not a DOT reasonable-suspicion course, not legal advice, and not a substitute for your employer's policy, notices, testing vendor, laboratory, medical review, or state-specific requirements.
Module 2
Recognizing Observable Signs Without Diagnosing
This module builds the supervisor's observation skill: what can be seen, heard, smelled, timed, corroborated, and documented without turning the supervisor into a medical evaluator.
Module 3
Reasonable Suspicion Decision Flow
This module translates observations into a disciplined decision flow: identify concern, control immediate risk, verify policy triggers, document facts, contact the right person, and arrange next steps.
Module 4
Objective Documentation and Confidential Records
This module focuses on writing records that are factual, timely, complete, limited, confidential, and useful for later review.
Module 5
Employee Conversation, Removal from Duty, and Transport
This module prepares supervisors for the sensitive conversation: calm tone, privacy, witness support, no accusation, safe removal, and no unsafe driving after a testing decision.
Module 6
Testing Process Interface, Refusals, and Employee Resources
This module explains how supervisors interact with the employer's testing process without becoming the collector, laboratory, medical reviewer, or legal decision-maker.
Module 7
Legal Risk, Disability, Leave, and Retaliation Controls
This module gives supervisors a practical risk lens: avoid medical speculation, protect confidentiality, involve HR, respect leave and disability processes, and prevent retaliation.
Module 8
Scenario Practice, Program Maintenance, and Final Readiness
This final module integrates the supervisor workflow and prepares the learner for the final assessment and completion record.
