  • 29 CFR 1910.178(l) — Powered industrial trucks: operator training

    1910.178(l)(2)(iii) requires training and evaluation to be conducted by persons with the knowledge, training and experience to do so. OSHA issues no trainer certification or licence.

  • 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(4)(iii) — Three-year operator evaluation

    An evaluation of each operator's performance is required at least once every three years. The interval applies to operators, not to trainers.

    The employer certifies each operator, recording the operator name, training date, evaluation date and who performed them. That record is the employer's, not the training provider's.
