1. 01Upgrade Purpose, Eligibility, and the 24 + 16 Route

   2 hr

   Learners can explain when a 24-hour HAZWOPER worker needs the additional 16 hours and why employer tier determination controls the decision.

2. 02Respiratory Protection Program Interface

   2 hr

   Learners can recognize respirator types and explain why medical clearance, fit testing, cartridge selection, and written program duties remain employer responsibilities.

3. 03PPE Levels A, B, and C with Heat-Stress Limits

4. 04Drum and Container Handling

What this training is built on

The specific provisions this course teaches to. We publish them so you can check the course against the rule rather than take our word for it.

• 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(iv): workers with 24 hours of training who become general site workers or who are required to wear respirators must receive the additional 16 hours and two days of field experience necessary to total the 40-hour level.
• 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(i): general site workers receive a minimum of 40 hours of off-site instruction and a minimum of three days of supervised field experience.
• 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(2): training must cover responsible personnel, site hazards, PPE, work practices, engineering controls, medical surveillance, and the site safety and health plan.
• 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(4): on-site supervisors need the same initial training level as the employees supervised plus at least eight additional hours of specialized supervisor training.
