Questions drivers ask before sending a profile

What do trucking companies pay a placement fee for?

Carriers and driver recruiters pay a placement fee for a Class A driver with three months or more of verifiable driving, seated and past orientation. Newer drivers are placed too, but the fee is much smaller, which is why recruiters move faster on experienced drivers. We tell you which group you are in as soon as you send your profile.

Does it cost the driver anything?

No. Drivers never pay. The carrier or recruiter pays CDL Schools USA when a driver we referred is hired, and only then.

I just got my CDL with no experience. Can I still be placed?

Yes. Recent graduates are routed to carriers with finishing programmes that take new drivers, the same companies listed on our new-graduate carriers page. Expect a slower response and a smaller list than an experienced driver gets, and keep your profile current as your months add up.

I have a record. Will anyone take me?

Some carriers hire case by case depending on the offence, how long ago it was and your driving record since. Tick the second-chance box on the form and we route you only to partners who consider those applications, so you are not wasting applications on companies that will not.

What counts as three months of experience?

Three months of verifiable, paid driving on a Class A licence, usually documented by your employer or your DAC report. Time in training or on a permit does not count. Six months and one year open more carriers again, which is why we ask for the exact range.

Which endorsements add pay?

Tanker (N) and Hazmat (H), together the X endorsement, open the best-paid regional and dedicated work. Doubles and triples (T) matter for LTL carriers. Passenger and school bus (P, S) point to different employers altogether. Tell us what you hold and we route accordingly.

Who sees my details?

Only the hiring partner covering your zip code, and only because you ticked the box allowing it. You can withdraw at any time by emailing support@cdlschoolsusa.com and we stop routing your profile the same day.
